squirrel tail

hi all am going to start making my squirrel tail and ears so they are ready for midfur next year any recommendations on size? (for the tail) also would it be wise to ad a length of wire running through the center to help it stand up

ok have finished a prototype tail (unfortunately only half a meter long) any ideas on ideal length? i was thinking maybe a meter long

a meter seems like a good length. the tails i make range from about 90cm to 1.5m
